You’ve taken the big step and proposed and now your bride and almost everyone around you is focusing on her dress, the ceremony, the party, the food, the guest-list etc. etc. etc.… the list goes on and on….but what are YOU going to wear! Your having a beach wedding so beach groom fashion is in order. Even though your getting married in a more casual setting, rather than saying your “I do´s” big city style, you must still look the part. Elegant, handsome, like a groom. You’ve got to look sharp in hot weather.
Lets talk Guayaberas. A traditional Latin American garment made of 100% cotton or linen. The weaves of the shirt determine its quality level and white and light pastel colors are the most common and traditional. Its origins remain obscure as some claim it was incented in Cuba and others in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. I personally think its the latter.
In Mexico, long sleeved guayaberas (long sleeves is dressier) are very traditional and worn throughout the country by men in all kinds of events held in hot weather climates or beach settings. If your having a more casual Cabo beach wedding for instance, you could wear a white or cream colored, tailored, long sleeved guayabera with cuff-links and have your groomsmen wear light-blue, short sleeved guayaberas. These elegant, dress shirts are meant to be worn untucked and without a jacket. Check out many of Latin Americas heads of state, including Mexico’s President wearing Guayaberas to the Summit of The Americas.
However if your wedding in Cabo is more elegant and held at night for instance, or you just want to look a bit more dressed up, then go for a khaki or beige colored linen suit. You could pair it with a crisp white shirt and a color tie, or wear a light colored shirt and no tie. Your groomsmen could wear a guayabera matching your tie or shirt color…..don’t be afraid to mix and match, your at the beach!
If a suit is what you prefer, there is also the seersucker option. With a nice preppy look, its still casual enough for the beach but elegant enough for your wedding. Light blue, navy or beige stripes give your attire a nautical feel that is perfect for a beach wedding. Or, you could want to be less traditional and bit more trendy by wearing a vest without a jacket. Less put together, a look for a more casual, laid back wedding, but still very stylish and beach wedding worthy.
So remember grooms the bride isn’t the only one with options!

For all of you folks planning on proposing this holiday season, think out of the box!
Yes, the holidays are a great time of year for popping THE question but try not to be too obvious. If marriage is something you and your significant other have already discussed, then be cautious since they might be expecting it and your plans could be ruined…. nevertheless the holiday season is still a very special and great time of the year for a marriage proposal! For instance thanksgiving is great because this way you can propose and also mention how thankful you are for having them in your life. And lets not forget about the food!!
For one, the holidays are usually spent around family and friends, so you can choose to have them be a part of your proposal, or you have the convenience of having them near by for the congratulatory celebrations. Plus, planning can start right away as you are all together already and can for instance, starts a guest list, as its always a hassle trying to get your parents to decide on who to invite. Also, if you get engaged during the holiday season, you might want an autumn or winter wedding as well. An autumn wedding in Cabo would be amazing since the weather is much cooler than during spring and summer, but you would still be having a warm beach wedding.
However, try not to propose on the dates that are most popular and expected. Do it during a shopping trip. Work out something with the store and ask them to come along and help you pick out a gift for you mom or dad or whoever. New years and Christmas Eve are the most popular, but remember it’s the holiday season so it doesn’t matter if you do it the day after Christmas or new years day! And if you propose in Cabo, you can do it during a Mexican posada (holiday party) inside a star piñata! Imagine the look on their face!

It was 5 pm on a Thursday evening when I received a call from the Concierge of a Hotel in Downtown Cabo San Lucas, telling me he had a wedding express request for the very next day! I was totally surprised and to be honest, a little overwhelmed when I began to digest the idea of planning a wedding with less than 24 hours notice! Such an important event requires so much dedication and love that I wasn’t at all sure. However, after a few minutes of thinking and processing the request I accepted!. Thinking that I might be crazy, I couldn’t give up such an opportunity, what an unexpected request, but then again, they say love comes in unexpected ways so “no” was never an option.
When I spoke with the Bride, she explained she wanted a Vow Renewal Ceremony to celebrate their 15th Wedding Anniversary. Only 7 guests would attend and they wanted a beach ceremony, a yellow and orange flower bouquet, a minister for a symbolic ceremony and a cake. A fabulous yet intimate ceremony.
I began calling our preferred suppliers right away and thought long and hard (not too long) of where to hold this magical event. Lovers beach, right next to the Arch with the perfect view of the Cabo San Lucas bay and a barefoot couple came to mind. The perfect place to renew vows and create long lasting new ones! The couple agreed and this last minute event began to take shape.
The next day (wedding day!) we all met at the Cabo San Lucas marina at 5pm, lighting was perfect! We went on board a small boat that took the bridal party, the minister and I to “Land´s End”. Our captain took us on a little tour of the famous “Arch” and to the sea lion colony, to see (and smell) these great animals in there natural environment. Everyone had a chance to take great pictures and after a little while, we headed over to Lover´s Beach. First thing we did was take off our shoes and jump onto the super soft sand. At that time of day, there were very few people, so we were going to basically have this great, romantic spot all to ourselves. We walked on the beige colored sand over to the Pacific Ocean side and the ceremony began.
Guests and myself witnessed a truly magical ceremony; vows were exchanged in an almost perfect setting. A truly memorable evening, with the oceans waves crashing in the backround and a wonderfully warming sunset.
On the way back to the marina, our captain took us for a brief tour of Medano Beach, the lively beach zone in Cabo San Lucas, which is filled with casual restaurants and bars, where we could hear and see the liveliness and just how much fun this area is. It was clearly going to be a busy night.
When we were back at the marina, I felt like if we had gone to a remote place, where only the bride, groom and a few of us had witnessed a special moment.
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Smith!

You’re thinking of proposing to your one and only, you know what to say, where to go, what to wear, what to take……..but you have only one problem! A big problem, the ring! You need the 411 on diamonds. This is the symbol of one of the most important proposals you’ll ever make in your life, so it has to be perfect! You have no idea about diamonds, prices etc. you need help! After all, diamonds are rare and can be very expensive; you want to pick the right one for your loves hand (and your wallet!).
A little background on this super precious stone. Diamonds are billions of tons of carbon rock we know as ordinary coal, transformed by heat and pressure into the hardest, most brilliant and most coveted substance on Earth. Not very glamorous right? But once this rock gets into the hands of gemologists and jewelers, they are cut and polished to perfection and thus we get the world’s most valuable rock!
For several decades now, a universal grading system for comparing diamonds has been in place, its cornerstone being the famous 4c´s; carat, color, clarity and cut. So for all you men in the engagement ring shopping dilemma, ask your jeweler about these 4 standards so you purchase the best diamond to fit your needs!
A carat is divided into 100 points. For example, a 50-point diamond weighs 0.50 carats. But two diamonds of equal weight can have very different values depending on the other members of the Four C’s: clarity, color and cut. So, onto color. Diamond color is all about what you can’t see. Diamonds are valued by how closely they approach colorlessness, therefore the less color, the higher their value. The exception to this is fancy-color diamonds, such as pinks and blues, which lie outside this color range. Clarity is all because diamonds formed deep within the earth, under extreme heat and pressure; they often contain unique birthmarks, either internal inclusions or external blemishes. Greater clarity = higher price. Lastly cut, which is what, gives a diamond its sparkle and brilliance. The most traditional for engagement rings is the round cut, but the marquise, pear, oval and emerald cuts as well as hearts, cushions, triangles and a variety of others are also very much worth looking at, and are all amazingly beautiful!
Remember though, diamonds aren’t the only precious stone that would look amazing on your brides hand, but they are certainly the most sparkly! And what girl doesn’t like a bit of bling on her hand! Happy shopping soon-to-be-grooms!

If you’re planning on getting married next year, during the spring and summer months you should really consider pink on pink inspiration as your events color theme! Mixing different pink hues and tones together to create a super feminine yet sophisticated event that’ll have all of your family and friends talking….surprise everyone who attends your destination wedding with a different color palette! Blues and greens are gorgeous but with different pinks you can give your beach wedding a different flair and life than the ordinary sea-side nuptials. It’s time to be bold!
When I saw the pictures of Jessica Biel wearing that amazing pink Giambattista Valli wedding gown I was floored! She looked amazing and brought me back to the days when Gwen Stefani wowed in that amazing John Galliano for Dior pink bottom gown of hers. You’ve got to agree they look great and super fashionable. They set the standard for cool brides. But if you want to keep with tradition, wearing a fabulous white gown there are many ways to make a bold statement with pink decor, shoes, flowers, lighting or even cake!!
There is an enormous array of pink flowers out there and so much can be said with pink flower centerpieces with a matching pink jeweled bouquet for instance. Think pink peonies, lily’s, calla lilies, hydrangea’s, begonias or even bougambilias which we find so much here in the Cabo area, hanging from your canopy. There are literally hundreds of pink toned flowers to choose from thus the possibilities are endless!
How about a pink wedding cake! And/ or a pink dessert table filled with pink frosted cupcakes and pink candy. Not only delish but super stylish. This pink ombre swirl cake is a great example of a wedding cake; swirls of pink rose frosting covering a vanilla and strawberry cake! I kind of want it in my house as a showcase piece. Definelty a show stopper and super easy to re-create. So if you’re into trends (I am) consider pink as an option for your event! I mean getting married in cabo is by itself awesome, but creating an unexpected POW is even better!
Celebrities already set the tone for out-of-the-box weddings, so now it’s up to us to make them our own…………how about pink cocktails as well?

If you are thinking about having a destination wedding in Los Cabos, and you love the beach and sunny days, read our article and discover the most beautiful beaches in Cabo.
Los Cabos has miles of golden beaches, natural wonders and unique climate. In fact, Cabo is one of the most popular destinations in the world, and its beaches and climate are big reasons.
This past October 4th Los Cabos has received a National
Certification for having two of the cleanest recreation beaches in
Mexico: Palmilla Beach and Medano Beach.
Following are some of these beauties:
Palmilla Beach: A Natural treasure
Palmilla Bay is Crescent-shaped wide and inviting, surrounded by the exclusive Palmilla resort and palm trees. The longest swimming beach in the Corridor, there is a mile or so of protected shore, with good snorkeling; and safe for swimming if water conditions are calm. Palmilla has palapas for shade and garbage cans. A fish camp for centuries, watch the pangas ride the waves onto the beach in the early afternoon with their catch.
El Medano Beach: The Most Popular Beach
This is Cabo San Lucas’s main beach, El Medano (The Dune) Beach is a never boring beach with an amazing view to the “Land´s End”, plenty watersports, beach volley-ball, ski boats, boogie boarding, parasailing and great restaurants and bars. Here, you can take a boat shuttle to Lover´s Beach for snorkeling and to the Arch for great photos! Stretching two miles, El Medano is close to downtown and safe for swimming.
Medano Beach
Lover’s Beach
Divorce’s Beach
Chileno Bay – Best All-Round Beach
Well known for excellent snorkeling, diving, and clear aquamarine water teeming with marine life, Chileno (Chilean) is the best all-round beach in the Tourist Corridor. Why? Easily accessed, Chileno Beach is wide, fairly flat, perfect for strolling, running or sunning with safe swimming. It is civilized, with restrooms, garbage cans, and a palm grove for shade. Chileno receives snorkel tours around midday — head northeast or south around the bend for more privacy. Motorized watersports are banned at Chileno. Rocky reefs run parallel to the beach with tropical fish, sea turtles, moray eels, invertebrates, sea urchins, gorgonians (sea fans), sponges, and starfish, all right in front of you.
Santa Maria Bay – Simply Splendid
A strikingly beautiful aquamarine bay flanked by craggy rock promontories, Bahia Santa Maria is a must-see beach. Watersports are heavenly especially during the morning. An excellent beach for families, secluded Bahia Santa María is a protected marine sanctuary and a wonderful place for children to learn about underwater life. Gorgonians (sea fans) line the rock walls and abundant colorful tropical reef fish make for fine snorkeling and diving for all ages. Another way to see Santa María is by boat on a snorkel tour from Cabo San Lucas.

Latest wedding trends in décor, hair, flowers and anything you can include in your BIG DAY is the Ombré. This is a French term that describes a gradual change in shade from light to dark or from one color to another.
A simple concept but with a dramatic result, which explains the ombré wedding trend. Get some ideas of this style here!
Flowers
Your florist can give you several ideas of color schemes that match with your colors selection of your wedding. Different tones of purple, pink, green, blue, dark colors that will end in light tones, on your table, aisle or bouquet.
Dresses
Great designers, like Atelier Versace, have included in their collection ombré dresses, different color layers that give an amazing look and a unique style. Some singer stars like Pink have used ombré colors for their wedding day!
Bridesmaids
Your bridesmaids dress schemes can be matched with your ombré colors. You can choose between one dress in the scheme colors or have each bride using different colors, from very light to dark in the same tone.
Nails
Ombré manicures are a trend in the beauty world. These manicures can be done in two different ways. You can either do an ombré effect on each nail itself or you can use a different shade of one certain color on each nail. A French manicure can be styled in this way by applying various color layers and a sponge.
Tablecloths
Tablecloths can also be personalized and put the ombré style as your wedding scheme colors. An exceptional design that will leave your guests breathless. Without a doubt a perfect option for exquisite photos.
Cakes
Fabulous designs can be done with your Wedding Cake in ombré style… outside your Chef can arrange a sweet fondant shaded color from dark to like and inside various layers and colors will be the perfect touch!

We loved the vintage designs! Ruche is the options for brides and bridesmaids, wedding dresses and accessories, one stop for your entire outfit. We wanted to share with you and express how much we like this authentic brand Ruche. On the other hand, these designs go great with the casual ambience of a beach wedding in Cabo.
A little bit of their history…
Ruche was created and designed in 2008 by Mai Olivo and Josh Olivo, with our furry companion Roji.
Ruche was not something that grew overnight. In 2005, as a hobby, Mai started selling vintage inspired beaded sandals on ebay. Like all fashion crazes, the demand for these quickly faded, but Mai continued to search for new items she liked.
As recent graduates and newlyweds, budget was always a big issue for us. Mai always had a difficult time finding affordable and unique clothing that was “her” style! That was when she started to sell clothing and jewelry that she loved. What was a hobby back in 2005 turned into a dream come true in 2008. With a degree in Computer Science and Web Development, Mai created and designed ShopRuche.com.
Through trial and error along with inspirations we have collected through the years, the couple molded Ruche into what it is today — a vintage inspired boutique with a modern touch. Ruche is a collaboration of everything that has inspired us from fashion, photography, design, and lifestyle.
Embroidered floral details lend eye-catching texture to this sheer tulle gown in dusty sage green.
Rows of ribbons adorn the sheer lace overlay of this lavender dress with peach undertones.
An otherworldly romantic vine crowns your head with an eternal raw-edged ivory satin blossom, textured green leaves, and textured ivory rosettes. This headband is finished with an interior wire to mold and shape into the perfect fit.
Classic, refined, and oh-so-romantic, these satin heels in nude are perfected with a charming peep toe and beautiful bows with sparkling rhinestones.
